Frequently asked questions

How do I get an API key?

API access is granted per project. Request access and tell us about your use case; we'll provision a scoped key and share the endpoint reference.

What counts as an API call?

Each successful lookup, scan or report request against the API. Asset fetches (screenshots, favicons) and webhook deliveries are metered separately on higher plans.

Is VirusTotal data included?

No. Under VirusTotal's licensing terms we don't redistribute their antivirus-engine results through our API. To get VirusTotal verdicts, use your own VirusTotal API key alongside ours.

What are the rate limits?

Each plan has a per-minute request ceiling (shown on the card) on top of the monthly quota. Bursting above the limit returns a 429 with a Retry-After header. Enterprise gets custom limits.

What if I exceed my monthly quota?

You can upgrade at any time, or we bill metered overage, your choice. We'll alert you before you hit the ceiling so nothing breaks in production.

Is the website scanner still free?

Yes. Scanning domains on alertoscan.io is free and unlimited. These plans are only for programmatic API access.
